Beer brewed at home is all dull, watery brown stuff served from old pop bottles, right?
Wrong, Manchester's homebrew scene continues to produce a growing number of commercial brewers and the quality of beer produced by these keen amateurs is mindblowing.
Head down to Beer Nouveau on the final day of Manchester Beer Week to get a taste of what's going on in kitchens, garages and sheds across the region.
Following on from a hugely successful first year, the event will include bars stocked full of beer from highly-skilled homebrewers who are producing a variety of bold and wildly creative brews.
The event will also include talks from an impressive array of guest speakers, including Lallemand's Rob Percival, a certified Doemens beer sommelier, former brewer and specialist in yeast. He will be joined by Crisp Malting's Colin Johnston and Dave Bawden from Grainfather.
There will also be competitions to determine the best brews on the day, judged by the public and an expert panel.
